Rape = “Sex Romp”?

So, according to the New York Daily News, rape of a trafficked minor is really just a “sex romp.”

Giants player Lawrence Taylor, who was busted having “sex” with a 16 year old in a motel room last year, was today hit with the lowest possible level of sex offender status. Not only was the girl a minor, but she claimed that she was forced into prostitution. See that word? FORCED? Right, me too.

But according to the Daily News, Taylor was guilty of a “sex romp”:

A judge slapped former Giants star Lawrence Taylor with the lowest-level sex offender status Tuesday for his admitted sex romp with a 16-year-old girl.

Taylor was busted last year in a Rockland County motel room with the teen, who said she was forced into prostitution. He pleaded guilty in January and was hit with six years probation.

Way to NOT take rape seriously, Daily News! Rape is never, ever ever a sex romp. Just wanted to clear that up for you.

As if that wasn’t enough:

“Our position is this was a sex trafficking case,” Rockland County Assistant District Attorney Tina Guccione said after the hearing. “People like Mr. Taylor create the market for traffickers.”

Exactly — people like him CREATE THE MARKET for sex trafficking and prostitution. As in, without these assholes, there’d be a lot less demand, and subsequent supply, for victimizing women and girls. And yet, Taylor (and many more like him) gets probation and the lowest level offender status. And many, many times, the girls do jail time — girls who have been sexually exploited and abused.

Where is the justice in that?

There isn’t any. And there certainly isn’t going to be justice so long as reputable news outlets call rape “sex romps”.
