A picture is worth a thousand words, but photos by thought-leading feminists? They’re worth much more in our (not so humble) opinions. While it was difficult to narrow down our list, these 16 Instagram accounts resonate especially well with us, and we think you’ll feel the same way.

In this clever Instagram account, Laura Nowak compiles actual exchanges on Tinder between men and self-identified feminist women. Some are funny, some downright infuriating — and all expose a depressing (mis)interpretation of what it means to be a feminist while dating.

The Daily Show’s Jessica Williams is a brilliant, funny and captivating woman of color whose feminist skits have garnered widespread acclaim. Everyone needs more jwilly in their lives!

Amber Amour is the founder of the (now defunct but nonetheless important) #StopRapeEducate campaign as well as a new campaign, #CreatingConsentCulture. She’s a fearless, outspoken advocate for sexual assault survivors and her Insta is filled with inspiration for feminists,  activists and survivors alike.

Because who doesn’t love an independent, feminist nonprofit clothing company!? Feminist Apparel’s Instagram is a healthy mix of powerful quotes and merchandise pics that’ll make you want to proudly display your feminist beliefs on some new threads.

Sarah Sophie Flicker is the co-founder of the At Once tumblr, which explores the intersection of motherhood and feminism. YAAAAAS!

lavernecox

Laverne Cox needs no introduction. She is an actress and trans advocate whose calls for living beyond gender expectations have earned her much deserved respect while elevating trans equality to the public stage.

Run by 20-year-old Molly, this Instagram account features her drawings of women who “don’t buy into your casual sexist BS.” They’re artistic, insightful and intersectional. Before you know it, you’ll be fighting the urge to regram all of her posts!

If you’re a fan of Notorious R.B.G. (and why wouldn’t you be?!), you’ll want to follow Irin Carmon, the book’s co-author.

WoCVoices is dedicated to “sharing & celebrating womyn/women of colour’s narratives through their art & writing,” and is the place to go for inspirational quotes by women of color.  (Seriously, go there. Now.)

Emily Lindin is the founder of the UnSlut Project, the director of “UnSlut: A Documentary Film,” and the author of UnSlut: A Diary and a Memoir (which just published last month!). She’s all about destroying slut-shaming, which is something we certainly support.
